Coming Up With Creative Snack Ideas for Kids

Ever been stuck with coming up with creative snack ideas for kids? You're not alone - many moms struggle daily trying to figure out how to make inventive, healthy low cal snacks for their children.

Forget lectures about nutrients and carbohydrates; kids don't appreciate dietary facts as much as adults do. It's all about ideas and how to take food that might not be so appealing and make them irresistible, organic kids’ snacks. After all, the more interesting it looks and tastes, the more likely a child is going to eat it.

Creative Snack Ideas for Kids - Fire Up Your Imagination!

Bumps-On-A-Stick. Take a celery bar (or perhaps a carrot shaped into a stick), smear it with low-fat peanut butter and then put raisins on it as if they were bumps. Alternatively, you can use low-fat chocolate chips.

Fruit Kebabs. Cut cheese into bite-sized cubes and pierce them with toothpicks, along with other fruits bits like cantaloupe, watermelon, grapes, or even strawberries. Makes for great organic kids snacks, no cooking!

Banana Popsicles. Peel some bananas and cut them in half, widthwise. Insert a popsicle stick into the bottom of each banana portion. Smear peanut butter on the bananas and then roll them through grated nuts, granola, or chocolate chips. Wrap them up in waxed paper before freezing them for a few hours. You can also roll them on just plain brown cane sugar and fry using sunflower oil. Yummy!

Sea Shells. Cook some pasta shells. After they've been drained and rinsed, fill the shells with egg or tuna salad. Sprinkle grated low-fat cheese on them. Alternatively, you can put the salad fillings into hollowed-out tomatoes or even cream puff shells. Get creative!

Natural Drink Mixes. To wash down your creative snack ideas for kids, go with natural drink mixes instead of sodas or artificial juices. Also avoid pure fruit juices; they are concentrated and will give your children too much sugar and calories. Go with specially manufactured, great tasting drink mixes that are low on sugar and contain no artificial chemicals and sweeteners, just healthy vitamins and minerals. Have fun pursuing your own healthy low cal snacks!
